Espeyrac is a commune in the north of the Aveyron département, in the Occitanie region. Built in the shape of an amphitheater, Espeyrac sits on a rocky promontory overlooking the valley, and boasts numerous chestnut forests.
The ancient Gallo-Roman estate of Spariacus, which became Espeyrac, is mentioned in the 10th century in the cartulary of the Abbey of Conques, but it is above all through the miracle of Witbert l'illuminé (Guilbert), recounted in the Livre des miracles de sainte Foy, that the village became famous.
In 1356, it was fortified and became, until 1661, the seat of an important barony (d'Arpajon). The main vestiges of the medieval village are its amphitheatric layout on a rocky promontory, steep streets and stairways. The old church was completely rebuilt at the end of the 19th century.
Lots of charm and absolute tranquility
